A very nice tight, clean copy of this first edition. Original green cloth stamped in gilt and blind, 253pp., 39pp Methuen catalogue. Spine ends rubbed else very good. The author (1863 - 1928) was editor of the Northern Counties Magazine, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. In the early 1900s he bought the Tower at Otterburn Castle. Described as a “wealthy antiquary” he carried out extensions, mainly to the rear of the property and built the lodge at the gates.
