Description
A good copy with light wear. Original pictorial cloth, pictorial spine lettered gilt. 4 colour plates (including frontis.) as called for. Very slightly cocked, spine ends bruised, edges rubbed. Lacks front free end-paper, a little usual foxing.

Illustrations and pictorial cover and spine by noted children's illustrator Gordon Browne, the younger son of Hablot Knight Browne (who as "Phiz" illustrated books by Charles Dickens). An excellent example of the English boarding school story.
