An interesting curiosity in Baedeker publishing. In two volumes. First volume in plain red cloth containing title page and pages up to p.88 and including all maps etc., the other volume in original usual Baedeker binding with blanks to page 89. Pp.89 f.f. complete as called for. With usual printing error of final page being numbered 468 (following on from p.567). Internally sound despite the anomaly recorded in the description. Spine torn along upper edge with small piece missing. An interesting curiosity in Baedeker publishing. The publishers often note that their books are published in removable sections. They offered, as a service, to bind part of a guide into a smaller handier volume. The first part of this present book (to p.88) has been extracted and rebound in a similar bright red cloth. The original book then had blanks bound-in up to page 89 in order to fill the book and not break the binding. Hinrichsen E 50.
