Veniamin Alexandrovich Kaverin (1902 - 1989) Вениамин Александрович Каверин, born Veniamin Abelevich Zilber. Enduringly popular adventure novel featuring Russian polar explorers before and after the Revolution, this book, was awarded the Stalin Prize in 1946, was reissued many times and was adapted for stage and screen. Kaverin was a member of the literary group ‘Serapion Brothers’ which included Zamyatin, Zoschenko and Shklovskiy. Trotsky apparently called them “young and naive”.
