Original engraved wrapper bound in, 1 double page map, frontis. map engraved by Alex. Findlay, engraved title page, 45 other tissue-protected engravings, by Th. Allom and others. xxxvi+84pp.. Colour bookplate by Otto Hupp. A very nice copy. Browning to many plates and water stain to some six plates at back. Otherwise very tight and clean. Robert Walsh, Irish priest and chaplain in Constantinople, Thomas Allom, English architect, collaborated on this travel album. “... together with Miss Julia Pardoe's work (this) is one of the most characteristic albums of that period, extolling mainly the architectural and natural beauties of the multicultural capital of the Ottoman Empire.” Ioli Vingopoulou
