Volume two only. Contemporary half calf, raised bands to spine, morocco label, marbled boards. vii+410pp., publisher's list. Colour frontis.: "A Peasant Bride", 6 b/w etchings by A. Hervieu. Large part of marbling to upper board torn away, preliminary pages including frontis. and title show some signs of damp marking, plates browned in places. But tight and text sound and clean. Collectable; Good Written by the brother of Anthony Trollope and edited by their mother, Frances (Fanny) Trollope, the celebrated travel writer and author of 'Domestic Manners of the Americans'. This is Thomas Adolphus' first published work and is an account of a trip around Brittany with friends. Thomas' redoubtable mother played an important part in getting the book published. The etchings are by Fanny's long term companion and family friend.
