Textured paper cover. Decorative cover design in black, lettered red, by V. K. (Vladimir Konashevich). Lapped edges a little chipped, spine tail chipped. Old Blackwell's label to cover a little torn. Usual browning to paper, very clean and tight. Used; Very Good Aleksei Remizov was a Russian modernist writer known for a fantastic and bizarre imagination. He had a vast vocabulary and Mirsky called him the most naturally Slavophile of Russian writers. His self-professed ambition was to catch "the bitterness and absurdity of folklore imagination". His traditional prose works set in the underworld of Russian cities gained him a great deal of publicity. Remizov was also known for his graphic design. He emigrated first to Berlin in 1921 and then settled Paris.
