A very nice copy attractively produced.
In the introduction, the author laments the lack of a 'thoughtful' history of this great waterway but calls his own work "... merely a tale of the river as I have seen and dreamed it". Pryde-Hughes translated a book from the German in 1927 and was editor of a variety of children's books post-war.
