Original brown buckram, stamped in blind and gilt. Spine lettered gilt, gilt decoration of camel cart to upper board. xiv[ii]+380pp+16pp. Blackwood catalogue. Two-tone frontis. litho by W & A K Johnston, 2 maps (one folding) as called for, 33 in-text illustrations. Very slightly cocked. Spine ends bruised, small nick central spine and lower board, tear appearing to spine head, frontispiece loose but present. An excellent copy, internally very crisp. Up-dated and best edition published during the time of the Crimean War by English author, traveller, diplomat and, apparently, Christian mystic. Charles Sarolea's copy in his usual hand to title page.
