Алекса́ндр Иса́евич Солжени́цын 1918 - 2008. Solzhenitsyn first wrote V kruge pervom with 96 chapters. He felt he could never get this version published in the USSR, so he produced a "lightened" version of 87 chapters. This was first published in 1968 by Fischer. Also by Flegon in an unauthorised version.
