Second printing of Rausen 'Michigan' edition. Original cloth, gilt lettered, 567pp.. Owner inscription (name blacked out, Chicago 1964) to front free endpaper. Scrape resulting in tear to dust-wrapper on upper cover, dust-wrapper yellowing at edges but not greatly. Apart from tear to d.w. a very good, bright and tight copy. In original brick-red cloth, with dust-wrapper designed by Ronald Stachowiak, priced at $6.50 (Kroch and Brentano label) and with 'Michigan' in Roman and Cyrillic lettering to spine base. The first 5,000 printed were published without a dust-wrapper and spine printed only with author and title. These were over-subscribed and therefore quickly reprinted. The second printing went out in a dust-wrapper. The two printings contain minor typographical differences. The contract to publish the first printing (supposed to be 1958) was actually only fully signed on 31st December 1959. See Mancosu p. 159
