Small 8vo., original red cloth, gilt lettered, brown endpapers,vi[ii]+272+231pp.. John Gretton’s neat bookplate to paste-down.
A very nice, clean, tight copy but spine very sunned and a little marked.
By the 1900s, Tauchnitz were generally better known to the English reading public as publishing inexpensive paperback British and American literature. Sales were limited to the continent of Europe. Hence the well-known statement: "Not to be introduced into England or into any British colony".
