First British edition, small 8vo., 191pp.. original unclipped blue dust-wrapper displaying price of 8/6 “including extra war costs”. War economy paper. dust-wrapper softened at edges, paper a little yellowed but a good clean, tight copy. Translator not given (probably Nicholas Orloff). Leonid Sobolev [Леонид Соболев 1898 - 1971], Soviet writer and journalist, spent his early career in the Baltic fleet. Much of his fiction revolving around naval life extolled Soviet patriotism. He later became a controversial figure in literature.
