Quadrum came into being in 1956 and was published until 1966. Originating from an earlier magazine, Les Arts plastiques and founded by E. Goldschmidt and Luc Haesaerts. From abstract art to Pop Art, Quadrum was the medium for a whole international community of art critics (c.f. Herbert Read in Britain), academics and curators, whose network had been formed in the 1930s.
