Original yellow cloth, with blue and white illustrated on-lay to both boards. 110 x 217 mm.. 121 pp., 3 b/w plates. With indices and advertising for Raisley cooking utensils. Two Brown & Polson coloured recipe slips, inscribed: “Katie Vaughan, Aberaeron, 1926”. Light wear, cloth darkened, corners bruised, lacks front free endpaper but clean internally and tight. No loss no tears or marks. Brown & Polson originally used starch to process muslin. By 1842, John Polson Jnr. had succeeded in producing a powder starch which could be used in cooking - this was to become ‘Brown & Polson’s patent cornflour’.
