Original full mottled calf, gilt ruled spine, no lettering. 315 pp.. A good, tight copy. Joints tender, corners bumped, one gathering a little loose, very occasional contemporary pencil annotations. Arnaud Berquin, 18th century French author and editor, was particularly well-known for his "Ami des enfants" and other instructional literature for children. The Petit Grandisson is written in the form of letters from Guillaume D. to his mother during his visit to England. Very neatly inscribed in ink by Miss Eliza Eleanor Farnell, 1826. Later in pencil by Thomas Pease, 1862, and Tom Paragreen, 1884.
