Weigand, German linguist and dialectologist (1860-1930) specialised in the ‘Balkan’ languages. His doctoral thesis was on the Vlachs of Livadi. He also wrote on Albanian, Romanian, ‘Aromanian’ and in 1909 published the impressive linguistic atlas: Linguistischer Atlas des daco-rumänischen Sprachgebiets.
