Limited to 1,000 copies. Not signed but Kitagawa's photograph (age 76) loosely inserted with presentation in Spanish (Al Amigo Thorstein Tamiji 76 years old). to back. Cloth backed, landscape format in original stapled slipcase with paper on-lay to all sides. Minor tearing to slipcase edges, with yellowing to on-lay. Minor yellowing to edges internally. Unpaginated. With some 30 colour (some litho) reproductions of the artist's work and of text. Two are signed 'Tamiji' in pencil. Used; Very Good A Japanese painter he took part in the "Mexican Renaissance". from 1923. He became friends with artists such as David SIQUEIROS and Diego RIVERA. He was a pupil of the Open Air School of Painting promoted by Alfredo Ramos Martinez. Kitagawa assimilated and adopted the pictorial methods of the schools of Tlalpan and Taxco, which he took back to Japan in 1936. There he introduced the Mexican style of depicting landscape and people, at the same time enriching it with local traditions such as the Ukiyoe. This brought him prestige and recognition as a Japanese painter.
