The author, Percival Phillips was born in Brownsville, Pennsylvania in 1877. After working for various American daily newspapers and establishing himself as one of the country's leading war correspondents, he moved to Britain. Phillips contributed to the major British newspapers covering all important events in foreign affairs, politics and war up to his death in 1937.
