Sewn pamphlet in later plain cloth-backed boards. In good condition but some browning to prelims and end-matter. 22pp., b/w frontis.. Used; Very Good Inscription: "This jeux d'esprit was printed during the (last) War and for that reason was never published. As you will realise it is a mass of noms de plume! - & little else I fear. it was done as a protest when hearing of the desecration of the Campo Santo at Pisa & the destruction of the bridge at Florence... a Garland of the best fllowers I had for the Flower-city in her abasement from Max for Geoffrey, New Year 1965 in sincere admiration." Translator's preface makes mention of both Gordon Craig and his lover Dorothy Neville-Lees. Presentation copy from Maxwell Armfield to Geoffrey Whitworth (both members of the Chelsea Circle). His long inscription in red to front endpaper, and occasional other annotations in red in the same hand. B/w frontis. reproduces Max Armfield painting.
