A nice copy in original dust-wrapper. 172pp.. War Economy paper. Small tear to dust-wrapper head and darkening to spine. Clean and tight with occasional light pencil annotations to some pages. Used; Very Good Sequel to the author's First Russian Reader and much more uncommon. "Most of the stories are told in the simple everyday language of educated people; some are good specimens of the colourful and idiomatic peasant speech" (Preface). Illustrated attractively throughout, with stresses marked, Russian into English vocabulary and many pages of notes. Natalie Duddington was the daughter of Alexander Ertel, Russian novelist and short story writer. Duddington, a translator of great skill, amongst many other works, translated and published a delightful collection of stories from the great folklorist Afanasiev.
