Contemporary full mottled calf, raised bands to spine, decorated gilt in compartments, morocco label gilt lettered. [xvi]360+271+xvi+192+228+vi[ii]+v Faint remains of 19th C. library label. Upper hinge starting, a little chipped at corners and spine ends. Lacks first title page, but ink MS copy inserted. Improved and expanded edition by the theologian Abbé Hilaire Dumas. Also sometimes attributed to the French Jesuit and polemicist, Michel Le Tellier. First published in 1699 in Liège. Archard on Abbé Rive’s catalogue in 1793 states: “On la préfère à celles des années 1700 et 1699”
