Used; Very Good Twelfth century bestiary translated by celebrated writer and medievalist; author of 'The Once and Future King'. Of this work, White writes: "No Latin prose bestiary has ever before been printed, even in Latin. This is the first and only English translation in print." A bestiary, or bestiarum vocabulum, is a compendium of beasts. Originating in the Ancient World, bestiaries were made popular in the Middle Ages in illustrated volumes that described various animals and even rocks.
