Description

A good clean tight copy with light wear to covers and very slight browning of pages. Remains of sticker to lower cover. Used; Very Good Photo-romance/reader for practising French. Mary Glasgow magazines were started in 1957 by a language teacher of that name, frustrated by the lack of material with appeal to teen-agers. The magazines were an instant success covering such 'teen-age' subjects as romance, film, music and sport and aimed at learners of English, French, German, and Spanish. The magazines are still published as an imprint of Scholastic. Mary Glasgow, herself, retired in the 1970s, having purchased a small château in France, and qualified as a pilot so that she could fly herself there and back from England! She was honoured with the Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite by Charles de Gaulle. She died in 1983.
