A good copy. Clean and tight. Beige cloth lettered in black, vii+127pp.. A little worming to spine and mark to upper cover. Calcutta booksellers' Thacker, Spink & Co. label to rear endpaper. Used; Very Good Early title from this short series by one-time president of IPA and Chair at Calcutta University, published by the Phonetics Department at UCL under the direction of the celebrated phonetician and linguist Daniel Jones. The series provided useful publicity for the descriptive phonetic research at the department. Both common and less well-charted languages were chosen for a balanced list.
