Wood.  Entitled: The I Book of the Fire and of the Alter. 1758.  A very unsual item bound in full vellum, numbering about 90 pages, 6"x8".  A young woman's copybook written in fairly large letters with a broad-nibbed pen.  Spine chipped at spine both head and tail, one or two leaves loose but only the first page appears to be missing, and the ink has eaten into the paper in parts but with no loss of text.  A Sarah Cotten (in a younger hand) has added her name to the pastedown, one or two pencil annotations and is probably responsible for the note "very rare" written on the upper board.
